With room design by Frank Hodge, the light fawn brown above the chair rail and a velvety milk chocolate below sets the tone for the classic and comfortable “library”, filled with neo-classical style furniture and accessories.
The wall finish was created with 3 carefully applied layers of Veneziano decorative plaster that we custom pigmented and then burnished to a tanned leather texture.
Veneziano is the name of just one of the many varieties of Venetian Plaster. The content includes marble dust, finely ground aggregate and plaster made from limestone, all of which contributes to the artisanal and elemental quality. The walls ask to be touched! Although this is a show room and handling of objects is frowned upon viewers can’t resist feeling the polished stone-like surface.
Every space in the historical Potter Mansion in Newton MA is beautifully designed and demonstrate each of the interior designer’s particular design strengths and leanings. I found this year’s show house to be inspiring.
