Like many children, I too had an obsession with pirates, the ocean and a wild imagination of adventure on the high seas.

During the pandemic, with all jobs on hold and a lot of time on my hands, I took up painting these themes not just to pass the time, but for the sheer fun of it. What I thought was a nostalgic whim turned out to be more than just art therapy.

I realized my pursuit was my way of controlling my day to day life, in which things felt out of control and out of my hands.  Today I look back and see how taking my paintbrush and creating these “troubled waters” on canvas turned out to be appropriate and timely.
